About The Position

The Marketing Student Assistant for Dining Services supports yearly marketing efforts. This role assists with social media, research, tabling, promotional campaigns, student engagement, and other department initiatives. Educates students and families about meal plan options, distributes promotional materials, answers questions, and represents Dining Services in a friendly and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Current University of Alabama undergraduate student.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment.
  • Current undergraduate in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic marketing, advertising, public relations, or communications principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current digital communication trends.
  • Ability to gather information, conduct research, and summarize findings.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and participating in team discussions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters.
  • Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment.
  • Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
  • Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing personal, organizational, or student organization social media accounts.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other content creation tools.
  • Experience creating written, visual, or video content.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and reporting.
  • Previous internship, volunteer, campus involvement, or leadership experience.
  • Photography, videography, or graphic design experience.
  • Interest in higher education marketing, student engagement, hospitality, dining services, or event promotion.
