About The Position

The City of Carmel is seeking a dynamic and strategic marketing professional to help elevate the city’s brand, increase community engagement, and support high-impact communications initiatives. This role plays a key part in shaping how residents and visitors experience Carmel by executing integrated marketing campaigns and delivering compelling, multi-channel content. Position reports to the Director of Marketing & Community Relations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant marketing experience
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license required
  • Understanding of municipal government operations and public-sector communications
  • Experience with brand management and plain-language writing for diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Basic graphic design and photo editing skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Capacity to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to perform occasional physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs standing/walking for extended periods)
  • Ability to operate equipment such as cameras and audio systems as needed

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social media channels
  • Partner with the communications team to develop and implement social media strategies that drive engagement and event participation
  • Create compelling content for blogs, social media, email campaigns, and the city website
  • Manage email marketing efforts, including audience segmentation, content development, and performance tracking
  • Coordinate advertising campaigns across platforms such as PPC, social media, and traditional media
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategy
  • Ensure brand consistency and strengthen overall brand awareness across all communications
  • Optimize website content for SEO and manage SEM campaigns
  • Analyze campaign performance and ROI, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Gather and evaluate resident feedback to enhance marketing effectiveness and satisfaction
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align marketing efforts with organizational goals
  • Assist in managing the marketing budget and tracking expenditures
  • Oversee third-party vendors supporting marketing initiatives
  • Prepare reports on campaign performance, marketing activities, and market insights
  • Provide graphic design support as needed
