About The Position

Alta Environmental & Infrastructure is seeking a Marketing & Proposal Specialist to lead the firm’s marketing and business development function. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role supporting 250+ professionals across five service lines — Geotechnical/CMTI, Survey, Civil Engineering, Environmental/EHS&S, and Land & Right-of-Way — and five Arizona offices. The Marketing Manager owns the full proposal and SOQ lifecycle, agency prequalification, brand standards, marketing collateral, and business development infrastructure. The role is highly cross-functional and serves as a central resource across the firm, working directly with principals, service line leaders, technical staff, accounting, HR, and safety. This position suits a self-directed generalist who is comfortable operating independently, managing competing deadlines, and building systems where none currently exist.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of marketing, proposal, or business development experience in the AEC industry or a comparable professional services environment
  • Demonstrated experience producing SOQs and proposals in response to public agency RFQs/RFPs
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate technical content into clear, persuasive narrative
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to manage multiple deadline-driven pursuits simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Working proficiency with design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, or equivalent) and PDF tools (Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, or Nitro)
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and comfort operating as a department of one
  • Discretion in handling confidential firm, client, and personnel information

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end proposal process: opportunity identification, go/no-go evaluation, kickoff, content development, production, quality review, and on-time submission
  • Write, edit, and assemble Statements of Qualifications, proposals, and interview materials for public agency and private-sector pursuits
  • Interpret RFQ/RFP requirements and build compliance matrices to ensure every submittal meets stated criteria and page limits
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and prime partners to gather resumes, project data, and required forms within deadline
  • Maintain the master SOQ document, project backlog, and reusable content library across all service lines
  • Track pursuits, submittals, and outcomes; conduct debriefs and apply lessons learned
  • Manage agency prequalification and pre-qualified registrant submittals (ADOT, municipal, county, and utility programs)
  • Maintain active registrations across procurement portals and vendor systems, including OpenGov, agency-specific platforms, and small/disadvantaged business programs where applicable
  • Track renewal dates, certification expirations, and recurring submittal deadlines to keep the firm continuously eligible to pursue work
  • Compile and maintain documentation required for prequalification packages: licenses, insurance certificates, financial forms, org charts, safety records, and staff credentials
  • Coordinate with accounting, HR, and safety to source and verify required firm data
  • Own and enforce firm brand standards across all internal and external materials
  • Develop and maintain capability statements, service line one-pagers, project cards, staff resumes, coverage maps, and interview boards
  • Manage website content and social media presence, including a consistent LinkedIn content strategy
  • Coordinate with PR firm/ vendors and outside resources
  • Produce templates and design systems that allow consistent output across the firm
  • Maintain client records, contact lists, and pursuit tracking
  • Monitor agency procurement calendars and upcoming solicitations to identify opportunities
  • Plan and execute firm-hosted events, industry luncheons, conferences, sponsorships, and trade show participation
  • Manage vendor coordination, catering, rentals, registration, attendee tracking, and branded promotional items
  • Manage professional association memberships and firm-wide participation in industry organizations
  • Serve as a primary internal resource for administrative, procedural, and process questions from staff across all departments and offices
  • Support HR, accounting, safety, and operations with document production, forms, templates, presentations, and written communications
  • Contribute to internal committees, including culture and safety initiatives, and produce supporting content and materials

  • Support ad hoc firm needs that require strong writing, organization, and document production skills
