About The Position

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver seeks a skilled and collaborative Marketing & Outreach Professional to support its Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) portfolio. This role will focus on programs such as the ASPIRE to Teach Alternative Licensure Program, professional development offerings, partnership programs, and other SEHD initiatives. The position operates within CU Denver’s Communications classification, requiring professional judgment, analytical skill, and responsibility across marketing, communications, and digital media functions, with guidance from senior staff. Key duties include developing and executing marketing plans, producing content, creating digital and email campaigns, supporting events, managing marketing projects, and evaluating campaign performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and project management skills, creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to SEHD’s mission of equity, access, and community impact. This role executes and supports marketing initiatives under the direction of the SEHD Marketing Director and in partnership with University Communications (UCOMM), utilizing marketing strategies to enhance electronic communications, webpages, print materials, stories, and other tactics to increase visibility and targeted outreach for SEHD Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) programs.

Requirements

  • Intermediate Professional: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Intermediate Professional: One (1) year in a professional role in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field.
  • Intermediate Professional: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Senior Professional: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Senior Professional: Two (2) years in a professional role in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field.
  • Senior Professional: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and strong digital communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing plans and budgets for CPE programs and events, collaborating with the CPE team and associate director.
  • Follow current and develop new Continuing and Professional Education marketing plans.
  • Proactively manage multi-channel marketing efforts (web, social media, digital, print) to support program enrollment and visibility.
  • Analyze past campaign performance to inform future strategy and recommend improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Ensure consistency with CU Denver branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with SEHD faculty, staff, University Communications (UCOMM), Recruitment & Outreach, Continuing & Professional Education, and other partners.
  • Execute sponsorship paperwork, approvals, and coordination as needed.
  • Draft, review, and deploy promotional emails for CPE programs using Marketing Cloud.
  • Develop marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and online content.
  • Purchase target audience email lists and coordinate with UCOMM and CU System regarding audience profiles.
  • Manage CPE social media content calendars and engagement strategies.
  • Share internal and external announcements across university communication channels.
  • Write website content for academic programs and events.
  • Produce articles, information sheets, and narrative features highlighting SEHD initiatives.
  • Interview faculty, students, and partners for storytelling efforts.
  • Capture photography for marketing use and coordinate with professional photographers.
  • Design marketing collateral (flyers, worksheets, graphics, ads) using Canva and provide creative direction to student workers or vendors.
  • Maintain and organize CPE marketing imagery.
  • Create and maintain event planning checklists and workflows.
  • Assist with onsite event coverage during daytime and evening hours.
  • Represent the SEHD Marketing Office at CPE meetings, events, and photo sessions.
  • Conduct outreach to engage with community partners, stakeholders, and potential clients, which may involve organizing info sessions, events, workshops, and informational sessions.
  • Build and refine marketing intake processes for SEHD CPE.
  • Track all projects through project management software; proactively manage timelines, expectations, and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor student assistants or interns on foundational marketing tasks.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including communications, development, and program staff, to ensure cohesive messaging and branding.
  • Support SEHD’s marketing director with additional marketing projects.
  • Evaluate digital, social, and email campaign performance and generate reports.
  • Analyze traffic, engagement, and ROI trends, providing recommendations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing and outreach efforts, analyze data, and prepare reports.
  • Serve as a project lead on mid-sized marketing initiatives, coordinating timelines and deliverables across multiple contributors (Senior Professional Duty).
