About The Position

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for a Marketing Manager at Port Everglades. This position works under the general supervision of the Public Information Officer (PIO) and manages the development, execution, analytics, and tracking of communications and marketing initiatives across various platforms, including website, email, social media, events, and community outreach. The role requires a high level of organization, critical thinking, excellent analytical, design, and communications skills, with proficiency in digital and social communications, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships with internal and external clients. The Marketing Manager develops and implements a business development and/or public relations plan for the agency, working independently to develop work methods and sequences.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, business administration, public relations or closely related field.
  • Requires four (4) years in marketing, advertising, special events coordination, or public relations work or closely related experience.
  • Requires one (1) year of supervisory experience depending upon area of assignment.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a valid Port Security Identification Badge for the duration of employment.
  • Proficiency in digital and social communications.
  • Ability to build and foster positive relationships with internal and external clients.
  • High level of organization, critical thinking, excellent analytical, design and communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years experience in a Customer Relations Management program (CRM)
  • 2+ years experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar graphic design program
  • 2+ experience with a website management platform (Simpleview, Sitecore) or newsletter platform (Constant Contact, MailChimp)
  • 3+ years of professional social media or public awareness experience
  • 2+ years of experience with videography, photography or digital image editing for campaigns and social media
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, business administration, public relations or closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit copy for marketing and communications needs, such as digital/website content, newsletters, presentations, publications, signage, and video scripts.
  • Design and produce graphics/artwork for marketing and communications needs, such as digital content, presentations, publications, signage, flyers, and gifts.
  • Develop and manage social media content, including tracking, analyzing, and reporting on metrics.
  • Develop and produce video and audio content for community events, business meetings, and digital and social media.
  • Organize and lead port tours for internal and external audiences.
  • Represent the port at community events, trade shows, and executive meetings.
  • Manage and fulfill public records requests.
  • Manage the port’s automated phone system.
  • Manage event, content, and production calendars.
  • Support the PIO with media pitches, interviews, and media/public responses.
  • Support the management of the agency’s website and CRM database.
  • Assist with the management of public relations, marketing, and advertising vendors/contractors.
  • Supports supervisor in the planning, implementation, and management of all of the agency's marketing, public relations, advertising, social and new media, community outreach, contracts, and reports programs.
  • Supports and supervises the agencies marketing efforts, including trade missions, trade shows, conferences, and presentations.
  • Manages agency website, including development of new content, design, and updating of information.
  • Coordinates and supervises web-hosting vendor; manages agency publications from development to printing; coordinates and supervises publishing vendor.
  • Responds to media, community, and elected officials' requests.
  • Manages staff; assigns and reviews jobs, discusses projects, and division and group goals, prioritizes workflow, organizes staff meetings, encourages staff training, and implements group work efficiencies; reviews staff performance.
  • Communicates marketing activities; responds to public, interagency, and external requests for information.
  • Administers advertising, promotional, internal and external printing, and publicity budget for the agency; organizes and coordinates advertising buys, including research and review of options, and scheduling; follows County purchasing processes, directs ad creation, confirms ad placement, and makes payments.
  • Writes marketing and strategic business plans, creates presentations, and produces various reports on behalf of the agency for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Attends industry networking events and regularly visits different hotels, restaurants, businesses, etc. to stay informed and connected; plans, organizes, and executes pre-promotion trips, tradeshows, site inspections, and familiarization trips.
  • Supervises and develops accurate and meaningful copy for press releases and content for publications, brochures, social media, and other marketing materials.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
