About The Position

The Marketing team is central to how HGMC presents itself, both internally to its 1,500+ team members and externally to residents, prospects, and partners. We are looking for a motivated individual eager to gain hands-on experience in corporate marketing, branding, and social media. This internship offers the opportunity to work on real projects, from initiating and completing an original social media campaign to assisting with the planning of the annual leadership conference. Interns will develop practical, portfolio-ready skills while contributing meaningful work under the HGMC name.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year degree program, entering junior or senior standing at the start of the internship.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.
  • 10-week commitment from June through August.
  • Willingness to travel for both the Kick-Off and Capstone events.
  • One year of customer service work experience.
  • Interest in marketing, communications, social media, or brand management.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills.
  • Professionalism in quality of work, punctuality, attendance, and attitude.
  • Dependability, good judgment, and organizational skills.
  • Initiative to stay engaged while gaining industry knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Own the registration tracker for the Annual Leadership Conference, reconciling invited vs. registered attendees and sending follow-up communications.
  • Track travel booking status by group, including company card and reimbursement processes.
  • Support awards administration, including nominations intake, department selections, and ensuring accuracy of tenure lists, scripts, and slides.
  • Manage sponsor materials, such as logos and advertisements.
  • Maintain the event intranet page with current information.
  • Draft registration reminders, deadline notices, and pre-conference materials for review.
  • Assist in brainstorming conference social contests, including video ideas or production support for the State of the Company segment.
  • Design and execute an original organic social media campaign on HGMC channels from start to finish, including reporting on post-campaign results.
  • Create supporting social graphics for campaigns.
  • Draft and review captions for the monthly content calendar.
  • Shadow the acquisition and disposition process from a marketing viewpoint.
  • Research new acquisitions upon closing, gathering community information, amenities, and photos for social media announcements.
  • Join community visits to observe on-site corporate branding and document signage.
  • Learn and document best practices for photo capture, including staging details like pool furniture setup.
  • Conduct competitor and peer brand scans focusing on employer branding, careers pages, and social media presence.
  • Monitor online reputation across review sites and social media mentions, including drafting responses to reviews.
  • Track current multifamily industry trends and identify content ideas for social media.
  • Assist with new business proposals by gathering property and market information, selecting photos and assets, and formatting the final presentation.
  • Assist with internal newsletter posts, from drafting to publishing on the company intranet.
  • Gather details and draft announcements for new hires.
  • Maintain and organize the brand photo/logo asset library with consistent naming and version control.
  • Contribute to special projects and the end-of-internship presentation, including a final presentation to senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required.
