About The Position

The Baltimore Ravens are seeking a Historical Collections Manager to join their Marketing department. This role, reporting to the Director of Legacy Engagement, is responsible for maintaining the organization's official team archive and creating engaging exhibit displays for fans. The position will assist in implementing the Ravens' mission, marketing goals, and objectives through daily duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of related experience through full-time employment or a combination of full-time and intern employment.
  • Degree in History, Library Sciences, Museum Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Detailed and exhaustive knowledge of Ravens history and football history.
  • Impeccable organization skills to maintain records, incoming/outgoing artifacts, etc.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to share Ravens history with the public.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Understanding of collection preservation, processing, cataloging, and storing of artifacts.
  • Ability to create engaging exhibits utilizing artifacts and copy to tell a story.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks on short deadlines.
  • Passion for and deep knowledge of football, past and present.
  • Customer focus, attention to detail, and operational excellence are of profound importance.
  • Ability to effectively work on and manage several tasks/projects at one time while remaining flexible, organized, and keeping key stakeholders informed.
  • Keen ability to build strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and fans, and maintain an objective position when asked to evaluate.
  • Ability to build and instill trust is vital.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams & PowerPoint), photograph databasing (Photo Shelter preferred), archival software (Odyssey preferred), and project management tools (Asana preferred).
  • Must have the ability to work long hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and all Ravens home games.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50lbs is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the team’s archives, including acquisitions, preservation, conservation, cataloging, research, and display.
  • Process, catalog, examine, authenticate, research, and preserve incoming and outgoing objects and collections (film, print, video, photography, memorabilia) while adhering to archival best practices.
  • Conceptualize, design, and execute exhibits, including selecting objects, integrating them, creating displays, and preparing interpretive information and accompanying publications.
  • Stay updated on Ravens records and milestones to ensure preservation of significant future items.
  • Collaborate with equipment staff to identify and obtain current player items for archives and display.
  • Plan, set up, and execute recorded oral history interviews with past and present Ravens personnel.
  • Solicit and negotiate with external individuals/organizations for artifact acquisition via loan, donation, or purchase, ensuring compliance with documentation procedures.
  • Lead the setup and breakdown of historical artifact displays at Ravens games, events, and M&T Bank Stadium events.
  • Manage the installation of permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits, and write text panels, object labels, and item descriptions.
  • Lead digitization efforts for physical photos, notebooks, etc., while maintaining the integrity of the items.
  • Support the integration of team history into strategic areas of M&T Bank Stadium and the Under Armour Performance Center.
  • Create and maintain a virtual museum on the Ravens website for fan engagement, with support from the Digital Media team.
  • Update and maintain the History and Ring of Honor webpages on the Ravens website.
  • Ideate and integrate team history into fan development programming and events.
  • Identify historical artifacts missing from the team archives and find avenues to obtain them.
  • Work cross-departmentally with business and football units to ensure contributions to the Historical Collection for preservation of team history.
  • Oversee the operational needs of the Historical Collections storage unit, including security, pest management, temperature, humidity, and cleaning.
  • Oversee the operating budget of the Historical Collection.
  • Assist with Ravens Legends Community events and operations as needed, such as packing and facilitating outreach/gift mailings and supporting event logistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Legacy Engagement.
  • Proactively support organizational efforts to preserve the Baltimore Ravens history.
