About The Position

The Pennsylvania State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is seeking a Marketing and Events Intern to assist with the coordination and execution of marketing strategies and event initiatives. This role involves creating promotional materials for educational programs, workshops, and events, as well as contributing to the development, formatting, and dissemination of web and newsletter content. The intern will also craft digital marketing assets for various online platforms and manage social media content. Collaborating closely with the Marketing and Event Coordinator, the intern will support the SBDC's educational programs and outreach endeavors. This paid position is for the Fall 2026 – Spring 2027 academic year and requires a commitment of 10 hours per week. The work will primarily take place at either the Innovation Park Tech Center or the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub in downtown State College, with flexible working arrangements potentially considered in accordance with Penn State HR policies. The Penn State SBDC provides consulting and training to businesses in a 4-county region of central Pennsylvania and is part of a nationally accredited team.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing studies in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in navigating the digital media landscape, including various social media platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with photo/video editing software.
  • Experience with design tools like Canva.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Highly organized and collaborative individual who is proactive.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with WordPress.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
