About The Position

Champlain Insurance Group is a fast-growing specialty, surplus, and excess lines insurance enterprise. Through our affiliates, Champlain Specialty Insurance Company, WestCongress Insurance Services LLC, and WestCongress Risk Services LLC, we provide primary and excess general liability insurance solutions and claims administration throughout the United States. The Marketing Development Manager will report to the Director of Revenue and serve as a key liaison between the company and its broker partners throughout the United States. This highly visible, relationship-focused role is responsible for generating new business opportunities, increasing submission flow, supporting broker engagement, and promoting the company's products and capabilities in the marketplace. The ideal candidate is an energetic insurance professional who enjoys traveling, building relationships, and collaborating with underwriting teams to drive profitable growth. Extensive travel throughout the East Coast is expected.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience within the insurance industry, preferably with an insurance carrier, MGA, wholesale broker, or retail agency.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance and the excess & surplus lines marketplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence business partners.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently and achieve goals.
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing sales or prospecting activities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States (approximately 50-75% travel).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale broker partners throughout the assigned territory.
  • Travel extensively to broker offices, industry events, conferences, and association meetings to increase company visibility and strengthen distribution relationships.
  • Promote company products, underwriting appetite, and value proposition to existing and prospective broker partners.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting teams to identify opportunities, increase submission flow, and drive new business production.
  • Assist brokers in navigating the submission and quoting process, helping move opportunities efficiently through the pipeline.
  • Conduct agency visits, lunch-and-learns, training sessions, and presentations to educate partners on products and services.
  • Identify and pursue new broker appointments and distribution opportunities within the territory.
  • Monitor market activity and share competitive intelligence, emerging trends, and broker feedback with internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and industry functions.
  • Maintain accurate activity records, pipeline updates, and broker engagement notes within the CRM system.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for brokers by providing timely communication, problem resolution support, and exceptional service.
  • Support achievement of company premium growth objectives through proactive business development activities.
