About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will support Rugby Canada's Marcomms team in planning and executing event marketing campaigns, driving ticket sales, the storytelling of the Canadian rugby community, our national teams and players, activating on-site at events, and growing digital engagement. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced sport environment; you will be contributing to real campaigns and working directly with fans, media, and partners. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with a passion for sport, creativity, and marketing who wants to build tangible experience at a national sport organization.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Sport Management, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm for event marketing and fan engagement
  • Experience with digital and social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn)
  • Video & photo editing
  • Writing and storytelling
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends during events
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • In possession of a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with applicable provincial or territorial legislation.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of design or content tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Knowledge of or interest in rugby and the Canadian sport landscape is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing plans and campaigns for Rugby Canada events.
  • Support promotional activities across digital, print, and on-site channels, including social media, newsletters, and paid advertising.
  • Support the communication and administration of Rugby Canada’s Club Ticket Program for summer and fall events.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance digital promotion for the WXV events in Toronto and Ottawa through online calendars, influencers, blogs, and other digital platforms.
  • Contribute updates, ideas, and creative input to Rugby Canada’s content calendar for upcoming event campaigns.
  • Track campaign analytics, ticket sales trends, and digital engagement metrics.
  • Contribute to post-event reports highlighting key performance indicators and fan engagement insights.
  • Assist with content creation, including video editing and social media support.
  • Support marketing initiatives for the summer promotion of VAN SVNS 2027, including email marketing, content creation, and website copy.
  • Collaborate with designers, communications staff, and marketing partners to ensure all event assets align with Rugby Canada’s brand and campaign strategies.
  • Contribute ideas to increase audience engagement, event attendance, and community awareness of Rugby Canada events and national teams.
  • Research emerging trends in sports and entertainment marketing to support innovation and audience growth.
  • Update and maintain Monday.com project workflows and tracking.
  • Organize and maintain Rugby Canada’s photo and video database, ensuring all content is accurately labeled and stored for future use.
  • Write game recaps for Rugby Canada matches.
  • Develop human-interest stories highlighting initiatives such as Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month, as well as other commemorative events including National Coaches Week and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Produce player spotlight features and storytelling content.
  • Edit short-form video content using past match footage and interviews.
  • Support the media and communications plan for the Canadian Rugby Championships Under-19 tournament in July.
  • Potential on-site support for event logistics, including stadium setup, signage placement, media areas, fan engagement, content capture and share live event content in coordination with the communications and media teams.
  • Assist with media accreditation and game-day operations to maximize media attendance and coverage.
  • Create fan-focused content, including crowd and in-venue experiences, for use in future event promotions.
