About The Position

The Marketing and Communications team at CGL aims to drive innovation and be the industry leader in client engagement. This versatile and knowledgeable team works collaboratively with line of business (LOB) partners to enhance the client experience, creating value at every point of contact. They think strategically and align initiatives to help the organization achieve its business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Integrated B2B Marketing Programs, the Marketing Consultant is responsible for leading cross-functional marketing teams in the development of the annual marketing plan specific to the Individual Life Insurance LOB. This role oversees the end-to-end development of B2B and B2B2C marketing support materials and programs, directs creative and copy development, and ensures seamless production and distribution functions.

Requirements

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in a marketing communication function with a proven ability to develop and execute marketing programs utilizing a variety of tactics and channels - including multi-media (social media, paid digital advertising, video, website content and landing page development), print-publications, direct marketing, sales collaterals, sponsorships and events, etc.
  • Experience leveraging B2C and B2B2C marketing channels and take a problem solving and methodical approach to exploring alternative solutions when necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively review campaign metrics against objectives with ability to recommend timely options for pivoting as required.
  • Skills in project management, marketing and communications strategic planning, organizing and consensus building.
  • Knowledge of, or previous exposure to, the print production process and web communications management.
  • Ability to work effectively with external agencies and suppliers to successfully manage delivery of work on-time and on-budget.
  • The ability to manage through impact and influence.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to challenge the status quo through continually reviewing programs and tactics to ensure they meet the strategic needs of the business.
  • A University Degree (ideally in marketing, communications, business, or a related field).
  • Experience in financial services/insurance is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend, plan, write, and manage the strategy and execution of Individual Life Insurance marketing communication campaigns and materials which include, but are not limited to - email, social media, digital and video content, print collateral and promotional materials, various sales support assets for use in prospecting activities, sponsorships and on-site events.
  • Document the customer journeys across target audiences to build an understanding of customer expectations and pain points, and to support knowledge of key interactions and marketing channels needed to align to marketing programs.
  • Work closely with internal partners and external agencies to build/refresh essential assets including value propositions, key messaging territories, creative concepts, and personas.
  • Lead the creative development of sales enablement and external facing support materials including suggesting alternative solutions to communication, design, and production issues.
  • Build and maintain strong internal partnerships with related business units that use an intermediary distribution model to identify and leverage plan alignment and targeted opportunities.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities as a member of planning teams and anticipate, recommend, and execute communication activity to support team objectives.
  • Establish, nurture, and enhance effective cross functional relationships across teams that include LOB Sales, Brand, Communications, Digital, Legal, Compliance, and more, ensuring that commitments are met and that we are mutually investing in success.
  • Create, integrate, and leverage ongoing project planning documents and templates to drive and manage Life Insurance workstreams, and identify intersections with other key business functions across Co-operators.
  • Monitor and report on quantitative and qualitative marketing performance metrics.
  • Manage and maintain set budgets allocated to the execution of marketing/sales support initiatives.
