General Purpose of Job: The Marketing Manager is responsible for marketing communications for Driscoll Children’s Hospital and Driscoll Health Plan including writing, proof reading and editing brochures, informational and fact cards, promotional pieces, newsletter articles, annual report, website and social media copy, presentations, etc., and serves as the traffic manager for the daily operations of the marketing function. The Marketing Manager works with the AVP of Marketing and Community Relations to learn the organization’s strategic objectives and key messaging for overall marketing communication. Assists the AVP with paid media projects as requested. When preparing and reviewing marketing communication for the DHP the Marketing Manager follows the Uniform Managed Care Marketing Policy and Procedures Manual ensuring that materials are written in the appropriate style and sending to HHSC for approval in a timely manner. Supervises the overall production of the Physician Update and The Link ensuring consistent messaging as appropriate and that deadlines are achieved for both newsletters. Manages and/or coordinates community relations events including health fairs and Driscoll-sponsored events held in Corpus Christi, the RGV, Victoria and Laredo ensuring that key departments have the opportunity to participate and that the appropriate materials are provided to participants in a timely manner. All community relations activities, including Speakers’ Bureau, are summarized by the Marketing Manager in a monthly recap for the AVP. Maintains inventory of promotional items ensuring items are ordered as needed while staying within a pre-determined budget provided by AVP. Manages the coordination and placement of speakers via the organization’s Speakers’ Bureau. Develops and manages a social media plan for the organization and oversees appropriate messaging. Serves as the supervisor for the Marketing Coordinator position providing coaching and counseling as needed, ensuring that the coordinator follows departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The Marketing Manager takes photographs during events. Takes media call as requested. Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures regarding patient privacy, confidentiality and release of information. Other duties as assigned. Responsible for marketing communications for DCH and DHP including writing, proof reading, editing and submitting for approvals copy for brochures, newsletter articles, fact materials, annual report, website and social media copy. Serves as traffic manager for the daily marketing function. When writing and/or reviewing copy for the DHP follows the Uniform Managed Care Marketing Policy and Procedures Manual and sends DHP copy to HHSC for approval in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines. Oversees the timely production of organizational publications including Physician Update and the Link. Manages and/or coordinates Driscoll’s participation in community relations events and Speakers’ Bureau. Develops a social media plan for the organization. Supervises the Marketing Coordinator position. Assists the media communications function by writing news releases, pitching stories to media and coordinating interviews and onsite media coverage as needed. Take photographs as needed. Takes media call as requested. Other assigned duties. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the following job classes: Marketing Coordinator Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in communications, marketing or business with an emphasis on communication; strong writing skills are necessary; experience in a healthcare or managed care marketing department is desirable.
