About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Intern will support Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch by developing and implementing a social media strategy that increases awareness of various programs and services. This summer internship is designed to provide hands‑on experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, and mission‑driven storytelling within a faith‑based nonprofit organization. All work will support Cal Farley’s mission to provide professional programs and services in a Christ‑centered atmosphere that strengthen families and support the development of children. The intern will collaborate closely with the Marketing & Communications team to align recruitment messaging with organizational values, program integrity, and best practices in social media engagement.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Strong written communication, organizational, and creative skills.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and content trends.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interest in nonprofit communications and mission‑driven storytelling.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with social media planning, scheduling, or content creation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
  • Audits existing Cal Farley’s social media platforms related to assess current visibility and messaging.
  • Develops a social media strategy for Boys Ranch programs, including goals, target audiences, content themes, and recommended platforms.
  • Creates a content calendar and drafts platform‑ready content such as posts, captions, stories, reels/short‑form videos, and basic graphics.
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, respectful, and mission‑aligned messaging.
  • Assists with publishing and campaign execution following established guidelines for posting cadence and engagement.
  • Monitors basic performance metrics (reach, engagement, clicks, and inquiries) and summarizes results.
  • Provides recommendations for improving future social media and marketing efforts.
  • Assists with other Marketing & Communications projects as assigned.
