About The Position

The Marketing Automation Product Owner is responsible for defining, evolving, and delivering Salesforce Marketing Cloud capabilities that enable personalized, data-driven customer experiences aligned to the Caterpillar brand and strategic priorities. This role sits within the Marketing Automation & Services team of Cat Digital and partners closely with product, engineering, data, and marketing teams to deliver scalable, omni-channel marketing solutions across the enterprise. The Product Owner owns the product backlog, drives roadmap execution, and ensures platform capabilities meet business needs while maintaining a consistent and high-quality customer experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and delivery teams
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Mobile, etc.) preferred
  • Working knowledge of Sales Cloud (contacts, leads, opportunities) and Salesforce ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation , personalization, and omni-channel engagement
  • Experience with backlog management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira)
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications (Email Specialist, Admin, Consultant)
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments with cross-functional dependencies
  • Familiarity with data integration, identity management, and digital tracking (cookies, devices, etc.)
  • Experience supporting large-scale campaign execution and personalization
  • Exposure to emerging marketing channels and technologies (e.g., AI, conversational messaging like WhatsApp)
  • Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, Admin, Consultant certifications preferred
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore teams

Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritize the Marketing Automation roadmap aligned to business goals and customer engagement strategy
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into platform capabilities and product enhancements
  • Ensure alignment across enterprise initiatives, including customer experience, data strategy, and channel execution
  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and strategic impact
  • Translate epics and themes into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Serve as the key decision-maker on feature scope, sequencing, and release planning
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily scrums, reviews, retrospectives) and ensure delivery against commitments
  • Accept or reject completed work to ensure quality and alignment to requirements
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Mobile, etc.) and its integration with Sales Cloud
  • Drive development and optimization of omni-channel campaigns across email, SMS, and emerging channels (e.g., WhatsApp)
  • Identify gaps in platform capabilities and recommend scalable solutions
  • Support high-volume, personalized campaign execution through strong data and content integration
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, and data teams to deliver platform enhancements
  • Collaborate with marketing teams and business units to enable adoption and improve campaign performance
  • Communicate priorities, progress, and risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership
  • Represent the voice of the customer and ensure a consistent experience across touchpoints
  • Proactively identify and manage platform risks (e.g., spam mitigation, data quality, consent compliance)
  • Drive prioritization and resolution of security, compliance, and deliverability issues
  • Support governance of customer data, identity, and consent across marketing systems
