About The Position

The Marketing Assistant works with the Ichabod Shop Director to create and execute marketing campaigns to help increase revenue, brand awareness, and promote a positive customer experience.

Requirements

Students with an art, graphic design, mass media, or marketing background.
Familiar with Adobe Suite, such as Illustrator and Photoshop, Social Media outlets.

Nice To Haves

6 months of retail experience, and cash register experience.

Responsibilities

Greeting customers, assisting customers with finding the merchandise they are looking for, using suggestive selling, and closing a sale.
Ringing up customers at the cash register on a daily basis.
Operating different types of cash registers with limited supervision or assistance when at the store and out at events.
Counting down cash drawer at the end of their register shift timely and accurately.
Using proper cash handling procedures at all times, this includes counting back change to customers, checking bills larger than $20 with counterfeit pen, checking for proper ID when accepting checks and credit cards.
Arriving on time, greeting customers, knowledge of bookstore merchandise and departments, ability to assist customers find appropriate textbooks for their courses.
Perform social media tasks as directed: post social media materials as assigned; monitor/create/post digital signage messages as directed; review/schedule/assist with ETM (targeted e-mail program).
Work with buyers to create regular content for the various social media platforms, adjusting content based on platform as needed (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat/Digital Sign).
Maintain customer interactions and remove any spam that has been posted.
Participate in staff marketing meetings, and monitor/update social media calendar.
Keep a to-do list to ensure marketing is ready in advance of upcoming promotions and events.
Work at events that are promoting the Ichabod Shop, such as Jr/Sr Day, NSO.
Performs additional job related duties as assigned
