About The Position

Sunwater Capital is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to drive the commercial success of its growing portfolio of companies. This role will focus on four distinct areas: Legis1 (a legislative intelligence platform), AllCiv (a civic engagement and political data platform), AllSci (an AI-native platform for scientific knowledge), and The Sunwater Institute (a nonpartisan think tank). The manager will develop and execute strategies to reach target audiences, manage social media, oversee content production (written, audio, video), and drive partnerships. The ideal candidate is a sharp, entrepreneurial individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, understands AI-driven marketing, and can translate compelling stories into measurable pipeline growth. Experience scaling SaaS products, building content engines, and a willingness to take on multiple responsibilities are highly valued.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of marketing experience, ideally within a SaaS company or tech startup
  • Demonstrated experience marketing data products, analytics platforms, or subscription-based services
  • Hands-on experience with AI marketing tools
  • Experience on capitol hill or in public policy, healthcare a plus
  • Experience with salesforce.com and marketing and communications platforms
  • Quantitative analytical skills – making decisions with data
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Established relationships with relevant media organizations
  • Available to work full time in person at the North Bethesda office

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize target audiences
  • Develop and execute marketing plans aligned to revenue and growth
  • Own the full content lifecycle- preparation, writing, editing, and distribution of emails, newsletters, articles, press releases, blogs, audio, video, and social media posts
  • Manage website, social media accounts, and other distribution channels
  • Leverage AI tools and automation platforms to scale content production, improve targeting, and drive efficiency across campaigns
  • Generate qualitative and quantitative reports on distribution and impact
  • Maintain view on competitive landscape and differentiation
  • Collaborate with the executive team on brand position and public relations
  • Develop relationships and engage with relevant media and influencers
  • Manage vendors and portfolio team members
  • Manage presence at relevant conferences and industry events
