Marketing and Communications Assistant (Part-Time)

About The Position

Under general supervision, performs various marketing and communications related tasks in support of one or more functional areas of the Department of Communications; provides administrative and customer service assistance to City employees and the public; and performs related duties as assigned. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to: Creating engaging social media content to be published on the City's various profiles and platforms. Staffing various programs and events to capture high-quality photo and video footage. Capturing B-roll footage to enhance the visual storytelling of videos. Planning, editing, and creating engaging high-quality video content for web and social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing fresh ideas for campaign themes and content. Performing a variety of support duties including organizing and storing digital assets. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to connect with a diverse audience, be self-driven, energetic, adept to a fast-paced environment, and capable of accomplishing multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience in public relations, social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or a closely related field
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license as defined by NRS 483
  • Completed Employment Application
  • Portfolio (ex. Professional social media posts to include photos, videos, and reels)
