About The Position

The Market Intelligence & Procurement Analyst provides category managers with actionable market intelligence, procurement analytics, demand forecasting, and sourcing insights to support strategic decision-making, risk mitigation, and cost management. This role monitors commodity markets, supply and demand trends, supplier risks, tariffs, geopolitical developments, economic conditions, regulatory changes, and supply chain disruptions that impact procurement strategies and business operations. The analyst leverages internal and external data sources, market intelligence platforms, and advanced analytics to develop forecasts, identify emerging risks and opportunities, assess market conditions, and deliver actionable recommendations through dashboards, reports, and executive-ready presentations. This position plays a key role in helping Procurement proactively anticipate market changes, optimize sourcing strategies, improve supply chain resilience, and support long-term category planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent as defined the the experience requirements.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in leading project teams, project management methodology, Supply Chain/Procurement, and business process improvement; (Or) if no degree, 8 years' of experience leading project teams, project management methodology, Supply Chain/Procurement, and business process improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent as defined in experience requirements.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Supply Chain, with a focus on process improvement and leadership roles; (Or) 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to transform large and complex datasets into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI; strong SQL skills required; Python experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to create professional PowerPoint presentations, dashboards, reports, market intelligence updates, and executive briefing materials.

  • Experience analyzing market trends, commodity pricing, supply and demand fundamentals, tariffs, inflation, supplier risk, geopolitical developments, and supply chain disruptions to support sourcing and business decisions.
  • Knowledge and practical application of market intelligence platforms such as Wood Mackenzie, Gartner, ProcurementIQ, Simfoni, S&P Global, Bloomberg, Fastmarkets, Argus, CRU Group, or similar tools to support market research, forecasting, benchmarking, category strategy development, and supplier risk assessments.
  • Experience developing market outlooks, demand forecasts, supply-demand assessments, scenario analyses, risk assessments, and business recommendations to identify cost, supply, and sourcing opportunities and risks.
  • Experience within the electric utility, energy, transmission, distribution, generation, construction, fleet, industrial manufacturing, or large-scale infrastructure industries strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of commodity cost drivers including steel, aluminum, copper, electrical equipment, transformers, cable, poles, construction materials, transportation, fuel, and other categories critical to utility operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze commodity markets, supplier risks, tariffs, geopolitical developments, economic conditions, and supply chain disruptions to identify impacts to cost, availability, lead times, and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop market intelligence reports, category assessments, demand forecasts, and scenario analyses to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and cost drivers.
  • Support category managers with data-driven insights that inform sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, category planning, and business decisions.
  • Leverage market intelligence platforms such as Wood Mackenzie, Gartner, ProcurementIQ, Simfoni, S&P Global, Bloomberg, and similar tools to evaluate market conditions, benchmark pricing, assess supplier and category risks, and identify industry trends.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytics that provide visibility into procurement performance, market conditions, and business risks.
  • Analyze spend, supplier, market, and operational data to identify trends, forecast future impacts, and uncover opportunities for cost savings, risk reduction, and process improvements.
  • Develop and deliver executive-ready presentations, market updates, reports, and briefing materials that translate complex data and market intelligence into actionable business recommendations.
  • Benchmark industry trends, emerging technologies, market developments, and procurement best practices to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Translate complex market, operational, and financial data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Monitor commodity cost drivers, supply-demand dynamics, supplier capacity, and market conditions across categories critical to utility operations.
  • Understand demand forecasting, supply and demand economics, commodity markets, geopolitical risk, supplier risk, and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Assess the impact of trade policies, tariffs, regulatory changes, geopolitical events, and global supply chain developments on category strategies and procurement decisions.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while supporting a broad range of procurement categories.
  • Build strong relationships across Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and supplier organizations.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and understand the impact of market conditions on sourcing and business performance.
  • Communicate effectively with analysts, category managers, and senior leadership through presentations, reports, and recommendations.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging supply chain risks.
  • Act with urgency and proactively identify and resolve risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all interactions.
