About The Position

The Market Director is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the performance, growth, and operational excellence of multiple branch locations within an assigned market. This role partners closely with Branch Managers and Senior Branch Managers to drive lending, deposit, and membership growth while delivering a consistent, high-quality member experience. The Market Director serves as a key people leader, coach, and community representative, ensuring that branch performance aligns with organizational strategy, financial objectives, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial services or lending, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or branch management role.
  • Demonstrated experience across key lending disciplines, including consumer, mortgage, and business lending.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and achieve financial and service objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of credit union operations, deposit products, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Branch Managers and Senior Branch Managers using a leadership framework focused on accountability, performance, and care.
  • Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional member service.
  • Build leadership bench strength through talent development, coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Promote employee engagement, retention, training, and certification in alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Drive lending growth across consumer, mortgage, business, and commercial loan portfolios within the assigned market.
  • Lead initiatives to grow deposits, including consumer and business checking, savings, and treasury-related products.
  • Expand membership growth through community involvement, relationship development, and member engagement strategies.
  • Monitor scorecards, KPIs, and performance metrics, implementing action plans to achieve market-level financial and service targets.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance of branches, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Branch Managers to ensure consistent operating standards, service delivery, and compliance.
  • Monitor credit quality, delinquency, and charge-off performance; assist with troubled loans and risk mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, staffing alignment, and operational effectiveness across the market.
  • Serve as a visible leader and representative of the credit union within the assigned market and local communities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, businesses, and local organizations.
  • Support branch-level marketing, outreach, and business development efforts aligned with organizational goals.
