About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the Market Development Specialist are to sell, rotate, restock, reset, merchandise, build displays, support special events, and assist with covering both sales and merchandising routes when needed. This role is responsible for keeping the operational seams held together within the zone by running relief routes, supporting merchandising needs, and executing miscellaneous zone requirements as defined by management.

Requirements

  • Basic training in an office or operations.
  • Knowledge of basic office software and office technology, or warehouse/delivery technology.
  • First-line production supervisors over semi-skilled operations, and the like.
  • Equivalent to 1-3 practical trades or training
  • Over 6 months up to and including 12 months experience.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention; usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Moderate physical effort consisting of Continuously lifting or moving light-weight material, or Continuously lifting or moving very light-weight material in difficult work positions, or Frequently lifting or moving average-weight material, or Frequently lifting or moving light-weight material in difficult work positions, or Occasionally lifting or moving heavy-weight material, or Occasionally lifting or moving average-weight material in difficult work positions, or Rarely lifting or moving heavy-weight material in difficult work positions, or in each case expending equivalent effort pulling, pushing, carrying, shoveling, or stretching.
  • Limited – makes minor adjustments to equipment; however, equipment is not “sensitive”, and damages are unlikely under normal use and care.
  • Works with parts/materials where errors usually would be detected and could be reworked without major loss of materials.
  • Only reasonable care to own work necessary to prevent injury to others and accidents, should they occur, would be minor in nature, such as cuts, abrasions, burns, bruises, etc.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division including decimals and fractions.
  • Understanding of basic Trade Math principles such as margin, mark-up, revenue, profit, and unit cost.
  • Could require simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules or diagrams.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • ABC Beer Permit
  • valid driver’s license and MVR within CDC/UCB driving policy
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server
  • Equivalent to 1-3 practical trades or training
  • Over 6 months experience in beverage or related field
  • Internal candidates must have a recommendation from their manager or department head.

Responsibilities

  • Run relief and vacation routes as needed and defined by the Territory Manager and Sales Manager.
  • Formulate a plan to achieve distribution of all targeted brands.
  • Maintain 100% distribution of all Plan-O-Gram items.
  • Maintain inventory levels, proper ordering, and shelf space to eliminate out-of-stocks.
  • Organize and set accounts with proper SKU management.
  • When required, merchandise deliveries and use on-hand inventory to refill displays and shelves in accounts where applicable.
  • Transmit customer orders and instructions utilizing the order system accurately and within daily time requirements.
  • Maintain competitive cooler space, tap space, and menu space equal to or above market share.
  • Strive to have 1st position in the cooler door.
  • Display and maintain current POS equal to or greater than competitive POS.
  • Construct and maintain eye-catching, well-merchandised displays and POS placements in each account.
  • Communicate with retailer management to sell in potential display locations and/or new tap placements and features.
  • Achieve 100% execution on features and monthly display programs where applicable.
  • Execute chain programming for each retailer.
  • Ensure prices are accurately reflected at store level.
  • Shelf tags, banners, and statics are present and correct for each product on the shelf, including promotional pricing.
  • Plan for effective buy-ins and upcoming promotions.
  • Responsible for adhering to Out of Date Beer Policy by keeping product properly rotated and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Support merchandising needs within the zone, including POS refresh, distribution drives, shelf tags, and reset execution.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the Manager of each account.
  • Effectively communicate new innovations, market trends, price promotions, monthly programs, and opportunities.
  • Ensure POS is current and in good working order.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and comply with company driving policy.
  • Adhere to safety standards, policies, dress code, and grooming standards.
  • Ability if needed, to deliver Hot-Shots to accounts.
  • Submit display execution through appropriate tracking system.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and company functions as required.
  • Address miscellaneous zone needs as defined by the Territory Manager and Sales Manager.
  • Obey all local, state, and federal laws and/or regulations.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
