About The Position

The Food Trust works with neighborhoods, institutions, retailers, farmers, and policymakers across the country to ensure delicious, nutritious food for all. Backed by three decades of research and evaluation, our holistic, community-centered approach to nutrition security weaves together three core programming elements — access, affordability and education — as well as a focus on advocating for public policy solutions. The Food Trust is seeking energetic, community-focused Farmers Market Coordinators to support our farmers markets and community work across Philadelphia. This is a seasonal, per diem (as-needed) role that plays a key part in creating welcoming, vibrant market spaces that connect communities to fresh, healthy food. In this role, you will help bring our mission—delicious, nutritious food for all—to life by supporting day-of market operations, engaging directly with community members, and helping ensure markets run smoothly and successfully. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, connecting with people, and supporting community-based programs that increase food access.

Requirements

  • Interest in community engagement, food access, or public health
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to engage diverse communities
  • Ability to stay organized and adaptable in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar tools)
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support day-of farmers market operations, including set-up, breakdown, and ensuring smooth market flow
  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting with SNAP/EBT transactions and distributing Food Bucks
  • Engage with shoppers, answer questions, and promote market programs such as cooking demos and community events
  • Build positive relationships with vendors, farmers, community partners, and volunteers
  • Conduct outreach and tabling at markets and community events to increase awareness of programs and services
  • Support nutrition education activities and interactive programming
