About The Position

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Maritime Systems Engineer in support of Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M). PEO-M leads a diverse maritime portfolio that develops, fields, and sustains SOF-unique surface and undersea mobility and mission solutions—spanning crewed and uncrewed platforms, combat diving systems, and mission equipment. Through close collaboration with Naval Special Warfare operators and strong government/industry partnerships, PEO-M drives modernization, integration, testing, and lifecycle replacement to ensure maritime forces retain lethality and survivability advantages in denied and contested environments. The organization also transitions emerging technologies into operational use, advancing navigation, communications, situational awareness, and training capabilities across the SOF maritime enterprise.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • DAWIA Practitioner Equivalency (Warfighting Acquisition University "WAU" Practitioner equivalent), in the Engineering, Program Management, or Science and Technology (S&T) fields
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant position experience, including:
  • Ability to research, develop, test, and evaluate; procurement, production, and fielded Maritime craft and craft sub-systems
  • Ability to interpret, select, and apply a variety of engineering principles and guidelines. Analyze, investigate, and delineate specifics of the problem encountered and devise ways to meet engineering requirements
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment
  • Skilled in evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporating into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in test planning, test execution, and processes of maritime or Naval ship design, construction or certification, evaluation, and execution criteria preferred.
  • Experience in the International Association of Class Societies (IACS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), or Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
  • Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
  • Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
  • Expertly adjusts technical support to meet emergencies, changing programs or production requirements within available resources and without sacrifice to completeness and accuracy.
  • Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
  • Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering and in accordance with International Association of Class Societies (IACS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) standards.
  • Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval. Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort.
  • Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
  • Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
  • Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
  • Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
