About The Position

The Structure & Outfitting Lead is responsible for leading the design and coordination of structural and outfitting systems across vessel construction projects. This role oversees a team of designers and ensures that all design deliverables meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and production needs. The Structure & Outfitting Lead works closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and project management teams to ensure designs are accurate, buildable, and delivered on schedule while supporting efficient vessel construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8–10 years of experience in ship design
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of hull structure and outfitting systems
• Experience leading and mentoring design teams
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, and Navisworks
• Knowledge of maritime regulatory and classification rules (ABS, USCG, etc.)
• Experience developing and reviewing 2D/3D design drawings and production packages
• Strong understanding of shipyard fabrication methods and constructability requirements
• Ability to coordinate across departments including production, purchasing, and project management
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Correctable vision to 20/40
• Ability to pass the Ishihara test for color blindness
• Ability to read and understand safety symbols and colors
• Ability to pass a pulmonary function exam for positions requiring respiratory protection
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, or climb stairs or a ladder
• Ability to perform overhead work, as necessary, with a full range of motion
• Must not be claustrophobic and may be required to work in confined spaces
• Capability to maneuver through openings as small as 18 inches by 23 inches
• Ability to move and crawl into awkward positions
• Ability to work in static positions for extended periods of time
• Good balance and the capability of standing on each foot for a period of 30 seconds or more
• Must not have a fear of heights and may be required to work in an elevated environment (which could include heights of more than 50 feet) on scaffolding, from staging, planking, or a mechanical lift
• Ability to carry tools and or equipment to their designated work area (approximate weight could be as much as 75 pounds)
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to respirator, hardhat, face shield, safety goggles, safety shoes (steel toe), safety harness, gloves or other protective clothing as determined by a Senesco Marine Job Hazard Analysis
• Must report all accidents or injuries to their supervisor and the Environmental Safety and Health Department
• Must report to their supervisor any and all damages to equipment, or broken and misused tools
• May be working in several different areas and environments; this includes work inside and outside of buildings or structures
• Need to work at a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines
