About The Position

As a Maritime Operations Manager, you will oversee the safe, efficient, and strategic use of the Port’s 10 maritime properties while serving as the primary point of contact for facility operations, utilization, pricing, safety, security, regulatory compliance, and construction coordination. You will build and maintain strong relationships with vessel operators, terminal users, industry partners, agencies, and internal stakeholders to support exceptional customer service, business development, and the growth of Port revenue and regional economic value.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in operations and/or facilities.
  • Maritime Operations & Business Management Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in maritime terminal and vessel operations, labor relations, regulatory compliance, lease administration, and accounting practices.
  • Effectively manage operations, assets, budgets, and competing priorities using strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, supported by proficiency in Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft.
  • Effective Communicator & Collaborator: Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly, and collaborate professionally with customers, tenants, industry partners, agencies, and diverse stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations for multiple maritime facilities, including dock scheduling, storage utilization, event coordination, security, and compliance with USCG and safety regulations.
  • Manage facility assets and maintenance activities by coordinating with staff, contractors, and Port Construction Services to support operational efficiency and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, enforce rates and tariffs, and ensure accurate billing and compliance with Port agreements and policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, tenants, industry partners, agencies, and the public while representing the Port through presentations, meetings, tours, and communications.
  • Support environmental and sustainability initiatives by promoting best management practices and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations across all assigned properties.
  • Identify business development opportunities, support pricing strategies, market available facilities and services, and contribute to maximizing Port revenue and facility utilization.
  • Stay informed on maritime industry trends, operational practices, and emerging issues to support strategic decision-making and future Port development.
  • Operate a Port vehicle to oversee maritime facility operations, conduct inspections, coordinate with stakeholders, and support vessel activities while ensuring compliance with safety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide on-site leadership and respond to incidents, emergencies, maintenance needs, security concerns, and other operational issues across Port facilities.
