About The Position

This role is for an Oil spill response and vessel compliance specialist. The team member will work with team members and clients to support client vessels’ day-to-day operations in U.S. waters and world-wide trade. Responsibilities include performing regulatory required filings and liaising with vessel Captains and client points of contact, as well as a myriad of Federal, State and local officials to support vessel operations, incident response and compliance with regulations. The position is responsible for day-to-day administrative duties and supporting operations for regulatory compliance for commercial client vessel fleet(s), including processing electronic Notice of Arrival/Departure and Cargo Manifest filing (ACE/AMS). The role also involves responding to oil pollution and vessel casualties on behalf of clients as required. Participation in an after-hours duty rotation is included. The position is Texas based and allows for remote work, but travel is required based on assignments.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Functional knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Functional knowledge of various regulatory regime frameworks and models, such as CWA, OPA’90, USCG, EPA VGP, OSHA, Ballast Compliance, ACE/AMS, eNOA, ECA, MARPOL, Annex I-VI, AK, CA, WA State requirements, IMO.
  • Available to work flex schedule, which includes afterhours/weekend duty.
  • Must be able to work in the US and qualify for TWIC.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access).
  • Basic recognition of non-English spellings and alphabets, including the phonetic alphabet.
  • Intuitive grasp of web-based software for data entry and tracking.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Maritime Industry / USCG experience, minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Marine Science Technician with Response experience is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with undergraduate or advanced degree will be attractive.
  • Training or certifications relevant to the maritime sector will be attractive.

  • Self-Starter, initiative driven with an ability to shift attention to the most immediate need.
  • Familiarity with maritime terms and concepts.

Responsibilities
