About The Position
Under supervision and leadership from Master Craftspeople, this position will be responsible for the installation of electrical, mechanical, and propulsion components on SAFE Boats products. The installation of electrical and mechanical components on SAFE Boats products includes installing outboard motors or inboard diesel engines and jet drives, along with associated cables and wiring. This role also involves installing fuel systems and filters, fabricating and installing main and auxiliary wiring harnesses, and installing, interfacing, and connecting a variety of components such as lights, radios, radar, sonar, heating and air conditioning systems, auxiliary generators, GPS, and chart plotters. The installer will also troubleshoot and problem-solve challenging installations, document or communicate information related to installations as needed, and set a positive example while assisting newer Marine Systems Installers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (GED/High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Three or more years of experience in a related field or education equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience working on SAFE Boats for a similar platform/product
- Thorough understanding of 12V dc electrical systems, including crimping, soldering and basic trouble shooting using multi meter.
- Ability to layout, build and install subsystems from schematics, including development of part list ordering parts, assembling components and testing.
- Understanding of gasoline and/or diesel powerplants, including basic automotive mechanical skills
- Familiar with general shop safety procedures and operation of hand / pneumatic tools.
- Basic math and measurement capabilities
- Strong communication skills- both active listening and relaying of information to others
- Critical Thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Eligible to work in the United States and be ITAR compliant.
- 18 years of age or over.
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of ABYC standards desired.
- Mil-Spec electrical systems and components experience desired.
