About The Position

River Valley Marine is hiring an experienced Marine Service Advisor to join our team in Red Wing, Minnesota. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, solving problems, and keeping a busy service department moving. As a Marine Service Advisor, you'll be the primary connection between our customers and technicians—helping boat owners navigate repairs, maintenance, seasonal service, warranty work, accessories, and everything needed to get them back on the water. We're looking for someone who understands great service and knows how to communicate with both customers and technicians. Experience in the marine industry is valuable, but it's not required. If your background is in automotive, powersports, RV, equipment, or another dealership service environment, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Marine Service Advisor, Marine Service Writer, Boat Service Advisor, Automotive Service Advisor, Powersports Service Advisor, RV Service Writer, Parts Advisor, or similar dealership professional
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple customers, repair orders, technicians, and deadlines at the same time
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to explain mechanical and technical information in a way customers can understand
  • Comfortable having honest conversations with customers about repair recommendations, pricing, and timelines
  • Ability to remain professional and solutions-focused when handling difficult customer situations
  • Interest in boating, fishing, powersports, or the recreational industry
  • Positive, team-first attitude
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with marine engines, Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Volvo Penta, warranty administration, Lightspeed EVO, dealership management systems, or marine service operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for marine service customers
  • Help customers with repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, commissioning, winterization, storage, and seasonal service
  • Write repair orders, prepare service estimates, and schedule appointments
  • Communicate repair recommendations, costs, timelines, and service updates to customers
  • Coordinate work with marine technicians to keep repairs moving efficiently
  • Follow up with customers throughout the repair process
  • Recommend appropriate maintenance, parts, accessories, and service solutions
  • Support parts and service operations during peak seasonal demand
  • Assist with warranty documentation and manufacturer requirements
  • Maintain accurate repair orders and customer records using Lightspeed EVO
  • Help manage customer expectations during busy spring and fall service seasons
  • Build long-term relationships that keep customers coming back to River Valley Marine
