Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field with 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Prefer at least 3 years’ experience in a superintendent role on a contract with a value of $10M+.
  • Marine specific project experience required.
  • Experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental).
  • Experience with NYS DOT preferred.
  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented; have excellent interpersonal skills and follow-through capability.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface.
  • Able to communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.
  • HeavyJob competency preferred. Will train if necessary, but is a requirement for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NYS DOT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a project by leading all crews and subcontractors to ensure completion safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Responsible for overall job safety as per the safety manual.
  • Ensure test holes are dug where required and marked out.
  • Report any damage to utility lines to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure job site meets all OSHA standards, including cleanliness.
  • Ensure everyone on site follows all safety protocols, including AHA's and Tool Box Talks.
  • Submit daily timesheets each workday, ensuring accuracy of timesheets and equipment.
  • Coordinate all work with subcontractors.
  • Coordinate all utility requirements with providers.
  • Schedule labor and equipment with the Project Manager and Dispatcher daily by 1:00 PM for the following day.
  • Submit a rolling two-week look-ahead, updated weekly, to the Division Manager & General Superintendent.
  • Secure site plans on the trailer wall in the field office.
  • Plan out work on the project four weeks in advance.
  • Meet regularly with the Project Manager and/or Project Engineer to review and coordinate upcoming work and needs such as equipment, material, and subcontractors.
  • Supervise and ensure that all tasks are carried out by Foremen.
