Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy’s readiness! We are seeking a Marine Mechanic to serve on our SECAP team located in San Diego, CA. This experienced technician also conducts troubleshooting and repairs on HM&E systems, specifically hydraulics, valve and pump maintenance for installed systems: Main Drainage, Aqueous Film Form Foam (AFFF), Counter Measure Washdown (CMWD) and Fire-main systems. Also, conducting maintenance of Auxillary equipment to include: HP and LP Air systems, Trash room equipment, Hydraulic equipment, and VCHT system. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This role does not provide relocation assistance.

Requirements

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related shipboard mechanical experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must have shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
  • Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
  • Start date contingent upon approved ID for base access, which is required for this position and continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent Marine Mechanical shipboard experience onboard USN surface ships.
  • Prefer US Navy DC/HT/MR/MM/EN technical/professional training and or certifications.
  • A current, valid DoD security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assisting ship's force personnel with shipboard mechanical troubleshooting and repair on DC and engineering systems.
  • Utilizes an "On-Hands" approach/technique to the Sailor individual strengths to benefit the Sailor as well as the command.
  • Assists Ships Force in the identification of proper materials and manuals necessary to make repairs to shipboard systems.
  • Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
  • Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
  • Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
