About The Position

This position involves providing diagnostics support, troubleshooting, and repair for various equipment related to Combatant Craft Mechanics (CCM). The role requires a strong understanding of diesel engines (MTU preferred), reduction gears, auxiliaries, propulsion systems, and their sub-assemblies. Responsibilities include assisting the Government with maintenance and repair recommendations, focusing on the Preventative Maintenance System. The mechanic will diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, and adjust/repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems. The job can be performed in both shipyard and workshop environments, and requires coordination with the Chain of Command on engineering and operating procedures.

Requirements

Blueprint and schematics reading.
Working knowledge of military publications, technical instructions, and engineering/ electrical illustrations relating to repair procedures and operations.

Nice To Haves

Motoren-und Turbinen-Union (MTU) engine experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide diagnostics support, troubleshooting support, and repair to diesel engines (Motoren-und Turbinen-Union (MTU) Preferred), reduction gears, auxiliaries, propulsion systems, including their sub assemblies such as engine electronic/electrical systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, starting systems, steering systems, electrical distribution system, bilge dewatering systems, cooling systems, fire suppression, and hydraulic systems for the CCM, prime mover, trailer and associated equipment.
Assist and provide technical recommendations to the Government regarding CCM maintenance and repair.
Focus on providing technical assessments and recommendations to the Preventative Maintenance System of the craft.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
Perform repairs in both a shipyard and workshop environment as required.
Coordinate with Troop or Maintenance Department Chain of Command (COC) on all matters concerning CCM safe engineering and operating procedures.
