About The Position

The Marine Mechanic Technician A provides expert maintenance and repairs to vessels, marine equipment, and other response equipment. This role involves the execution of mechanical maintenance, inspection, and repair of all marine services and response equipment, such as gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems. The technician will input maintenance records into a preventive maintenance program, test and diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units. Additionally, they will perform routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment, maintain tools and equipment, and keep a clean, organized work area. The role also includes preparing work orders and cost estimates, participating in the on-call emergency response program, and operating associated hand and power tools. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 4 - 7 Years of overall relevant work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in marine engine maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems.
  • Ability to diagnose commonly occurring malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of welding practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses in marine mechanics or a related field are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of mechanical maintenance, inspection and repair of all marine services and response equipment, such as gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems.
  • Inputs maintenance records into a preventive maintenance program for marine engines, vessels, skimming systems, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment.
  • Tests and diagnoses problems, disassembles units, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units.
  • Performs routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and a clean work area that is organized and in good working condition.
  • Creates and maintains files related to equipment maintenance.
  • Prepares work orders and materials cost estimates.
  • Participates in the on-call emergency response program.
  • Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engines, vessels, skimmers, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment.
  • Performs other, job-related duties as assigned.
