About The Position

Gulf Marine Repair is currently looking for a Marine Electrician for the 1st shift. This role involves the repair and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and repair, along with the ability to work with high voltage systems. Requirements

  • Ability to work with and maintain high voltage 2300 volts and less.
  • Ability to analyze blueprints, schematics and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded system.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and/or systems like: motors, motor controls, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, welding machines, drill press, drills, grinders, heavy equipment, cranes, lathes.
  • Familiarity with millimeters, voltmeters, manometers, high voltage meters, clamp on amp meters, infrared heat guns, basic electrical tools, crimping tools (manual and hydraulic), and conduit pipe benders.
  • Must be able to pass a skills test.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipyard experience is a plus.
  • Electrical Trade Certificate or Diploma.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) (if offshore assignments are required).
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Confined Space Entry certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid electrical safety training (LOTO, Electrical Safety Awareness, or equivalent).

  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems/subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems using blueprints and schematics.
  • Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
  • Diagnose electrical problems or failures to identify equipment and/or system repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and/or systems such as motors, motor controls, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, welding machines, drill press, drills, grinders, heavy equipment, cranes, and lathes.
