MARINE ELECTRICIAN GDIT is seeking a Marine Electrician to help support the RCOH/CANES program in Newport News, VA. This is an onsite position, and no relocation assistance is provided. Must be a US Citizen Job Description: This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter preforming the following tasks: Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, cables, equipment, and connectors. Uses hand tools and testing equipment. Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using general and specialized testing equipment. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures. Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications. Works from drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Participates in special projects as required. Must be able to obtain all necessary badges (DBIDS and shipyard). Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Performs other duties as assigned Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 75 lbs. Travel (within and outside of the continental United States) Maybe required for 20% of the time
