Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in general studies or equivalent experience and training.
  • None (experience required).
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Good phone etiquette skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to use logical thought process to interpret various situations and requests to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Ability to make independent decisions that affect both company and customer.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work successfully both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Acutely aware of surroundings with ability to quickly adjust to a signal or change in environment.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, ensuring security, and dispatching inland tug boats moving barges.
  • Establishing priorities.
  • Securing equipment and resources applicable to work order.
  • Maintaining records and processing paperwork.
  • Providing various reports.
  • Consistent communication with all staff and tugboat personnel.
  • Dispatching staff in response to incidents and emergency requests from vessels.
  • Ensuring daily dispatch logs are kept current and all information is up-to-date; information utilized with customer billing.
  • Evaluating situations and taking action independently to solve problems.
  • Working closely with internal operations to develop logistics solutions for customers.
  • Working to keep fleet security a priority.
  • Coordinating dock breakdowns and set up with shipyard.
  • Coordinating efficient movement of barges in and out of fleets.
  • Coordinating logistics of tow building with the arrival of line boats.
  • Coordinating boat tows to and from destinations for maximum efficiency.
  • Coordinating barge schedules with shipyards and customers.
  • Assisting management with fleet operations.
  • Following all company policies and procedures as it relates to operational difficulties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
