About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the marina. The work consists of customer relations and familiarity of power or sailing vessels, and nautical terms. The purpose of this position is the operation and maintenance of the marina facility. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of file and records management principles.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of basic power tools.
  • Knowledge or the ability to learn boating/marina terminology and basic knowledge of dock regulations.
  • Skills in basic boat handling.
  • Skill in the preparation of correspondence.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in marina or boating operation.
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license issued for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Experience in customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assigning dockage and anchorage and keeping accurate records pertaining to the use of the Marina Facility.
  • Maintaining an accurate dock list showing location of vessels using the marina.
  • Collecting and maintaining an accurate account of all monies, credit cards, inventory, and registrations.
  • Safely operating pump out boat and tender operations as required.
  • Responsible for care of docks, buildings, facilities, and grounds and ensuring all safety procedures are being followed.
  • Handling most operations at the Marina without supervision.
  • Maintaining constant clean-up of the Marina, buildings, grounds, docks, public restrooms and boater restrooms.
  • Emptying trash containers, picking up trash, cigarette butts, and other rubbish as required.
  • Exercising expertise in customer and public relations.
  • Accommodating and coordinating reservations in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Advising and assisting in docking or departing and of conditions, berth, and procedures.
  • Continuous monitoring and use of VHF ship-to-shore radio in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Maintaining constant surveillance of the Marina and vessels arriving, staying, or departing the marina.
  • Overseeing and performing the maintenance and repair of floating docks and gangways.
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.
