About The Position

As a Marina Attendant with Norfolk County, you’ll help keep the Port Dover Harbour Marina safe, clean, and welcoming by maintaining facilities, assisting boaters, and supporting daily marina operations. Your work will enhance the visitor experience, support waterfront recreation, and ensure the marina operates efficiently throughout the season. Requirements

  • Enrolled in High school, University or College.
  • Able to lift 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in janitorial, horticulture, landscaping, carpentry, boating.
  • Boaters Operating Card License.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C.

Responsibilities

  • Horticultural operations within Port Dover Harbour Marina (e.g., grass cutting, weed eating, general landscaping).
  • Facilities maintenance within Port Dover Harbour Marina (e.g., buildings, pavilions/gazebos, docks, and parking lot).
  • Cleaning facilities and minor maintenance (e.g., washrooms, showers, office area, fueling and pumping stations, marina grounds, parking areas).
  • Perform daily, monthly, and seasonal inspections and record keeping.
  • Maintain daily written records of work-related activities, including daily circle checks on all equipment and report defects to the immediate supervisor.
  • Be knowledgeable of all Port Dover Harbour Marina rates and services.
  • Collect and monitor ramp fees from boaters using daily ramps.
  • Comply with all TSSA regulations regarding the safe operation of a fuel station.
  • Ensure accurate collection and processing of all revenue from fuel docks, ramp, and ice sales.
  • Assist all boats in docking and casting off.
  • Maintain good relations with all marina patrons and the public, including fielding general inquiries.
  • Participate in the set up and take down of equipment and items for special events (e.g., picnic tables, tables, chairs).
  • Report and assist with recording incidents of injury, vandalism, etc.
  • Close fuel dock daily, ensuring daily above-ground fuel tank dips and pump readings are completed.
  • Provide fuel dock services, adhering to Port Dover Harbour Marina pump-out and fueling procedures; pump out boater waste tanks.
  • Respond to patron/customer needs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Work outdoors cleaning and scrubbing docks over long periods.
  • Assist seasonal/transient boaters to tie up and cast off from mooring wells.
  • Ensure adherence to the Safety and Port Dover Harbour Marina Rules and Regulations.
  • Frequent garbage, litter, and recyclables pickup.
  • Conduct dock-walks under supervisor direction to ensure lighting is working, boats are tied properly and safely, there are no obstacles on docks, and safety equipment is working and in place.
  • Safe and efficient operation, care, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles (e.g., grass cutting machines, tractors, utility vehicle, weed eaters).
  • Aquatic weed, fish, and bird pickup, including removal of debris from marina waterways.
  • Perform laboring duties including climbing, lifting, pulling, balancing, kneeling, stooping, walking, and handling materials to assist in the maintenance of Norfolk County facilities and infrastructure.
  • Work in an outdoor environment in all elements (e.g., hot and cold weather).
