Marie C. Desir Scholarship

Peralte-Clark,LLCArlington Heights, IL

About The Position

The Marie C. Desir Scholarship is named in honor of Foundation Co-Founder and Board Chairman Jean-Alix Peralte's mother, a woman who dedicated her life to caring for those around her. Ms. Desir, who had a successful nursing career in Haiti and later in the United States for over 40 years at the University of Chicago Hospitals, prioritized patient care above administrative or teaching roles. She pursued further education, earning her master's in nursing in her sixties and retiring in her seventies after receiving several service awards. Her commitment to nursing and her family, alongside her deep connection to Haitian culture, defined her life. This scholarship was created to recognize her continuous contribution to her son's success and is awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to patient care grounded in excellence.
