Zipline•South San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Zipline is seeking a Maps Intern to contribute to and own portions of its Maps stack, which supports autonomous delivery operations. The Maps Team develops scalable tools and services that generate artifacts used by vehicles to plan and safely fly missions in the real world. The work may include path-planning algorithms, validation of artifacts against flight requirements, spatial-data generation, and data-transformation pipelines. The intern will help advance multi-objective routing and efficient spatial-data ingestion and access, while learning how theoretical path-planning methods are adapted to real-world problems and how data and spatial search support routing in air. This is a full-time, in-person internship at Zipline’s South San Francisco office, running January through April 2027. The hourly rate is $54. Additional benefits may include relocation support, a housing stipend, overtime pay, paid sick time, and other benefits, where applicable and subject to local requirements.

  • Proficient coding and programming skills.
  • Understanding of automated testing practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or developing novel algorithmic research.
  • Experience with spatial data.

Responsibilities

  • Work on services that generate routes and spatial-planning artifacts.
  • Use tools to visualize and evaluate geospatial features that affect serviceability.
  • Collaborate with teams to make spatial data accessible instantaneously anywhere in the world.
  • Improve planning algorithms to make routing fast, safe, and reliable.

Benefits
