About The Position

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking a MAP Engineer in Mobile, AL. This role involves the creation, validation, approval, and monitoring of design and engineering corrective actions, improvements, and preventive measures. The engineer will be responsible for resolving engineering-related non-conformities, creating and authorizing technical solutions, and representing Chief Engineering and design offices. This position acts as an interface between the A320 Family Chief Engineer, Design office, and Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. The MAP Engineer will provide engineering support to the FAL US throughout the manufacturing process, from section delivery to flight line activities and ferry flights, including customer presentations. The role also includes creating and authorizing temporary aircraft definitions in line with airworthiness requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years in any job title involving experience developing in design office responsibilities in an aeronautical environment.
  • Prior experience must also include: Working in electrical, mechanical and structures installation design.
  • Working in a design office (design or stress) of aircraft structures and mechanical installation.
  • Performing basic stress calculations and justifications for installation purposes.
  • Working with aeronautical materials and corrosion protection.
  • Performing repair design and basic stress analysis.
  • Creating and managing design changes and design corrective actions.
  • Providing engineering support and leading troubleshooting during structural assembly.
  • Utilizing aircraft configuration management rules.

Responsibilities

  • Creation, validation, approval and monitoring of design and engineering corrective actions / improvements and preventive measures (launch of new modifications, drawing updates, design query notes) to resolve engineering related non-conformities.
  • Creation, approval, and authorization (release) of technical solutions including justification reports for repairs, rework or troubleshooting instructions.
  • Represent the Chief Engineering and the design offices of AIRBUS (by delegation) as well as design to build suppliers.
  • Act as an interface between the A320 Family Chief Engineer, Design office and the Manufacturing and Quality assurance.
  • Provide engineering support to the FAL US during the complete manufacturing process from the delivery of the sections, FAL and flight Line activities, up to the aircraft ferry flight in all relevant engineering items including engineering presentations in front of the customer.
  • Creation, approval and authorization of temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions) in line with the airworthiness requirements.
