About The Position

The Manufacturing Weld Engineer will be responsible for proposing and evaluating manufacturing processes and equipment for effectiveness. This role involves accountabilities in maintenance, implementation, and continuous improvement of process controls methods for body shop welding, fastening, sealing, and adhesive applications. The engineer will provide welding engineering support to the Body production organization, troubleshoot on the plant floor, provide training, and conduct root cause analysis. They will act as a technical resource for manufacturing engineers, skilled trades, and production teams, and will be involved in process validation for new equipment build, installation, and start-up. The role also includes providing a safe work environment, working with engineering and production teams for quality, warranty, and cost improvements, and coordinating guidance from customers to meet their needs.

Requirements

Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Must be graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week.
Must be willing to work in a plant environment.
Knowledge of joining processes that may include: Welding processes – spot, mig, plasma, laser welding, Aluminum Spot welding, Sealer & Adhesive, Vehicle requirements, Clinch & Rivet Applications, Drawn Arc Stud Welding, Projection weld nut welding.
Process validation experience with new equipment build, installation and start-up.
Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Provide welding engineering support to the Body production organization.
Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for effectiveness.
Implement and continuously improve process controls methods for body shop welding, fastening, sealing & adhesive applications.
Provide plant floor troubleshooting, training and problem solving to root cause analysis.
Act as a technical resource for manufacturing engineers, skilled trades and production teams.
Participate in process validation for new equipment build, installation and start-up.
Provide a safe work environment & follow all policies.
Work with engineering & production teams for quality, warranty & cost improvement activities.
Coordinate guidance from internal/external customers to meet customer needs and/or perceptions.
