The Manufacturing Test Engineer is responsible for developing, deploying, sustaining, and improving production test solutions used to verify product quality and performance. This role owns manufacturing test procedures, automated test scripting, product-to-test-system interfaces, and test fixture development while partnering with Central Test Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing execution.

Requirements

  • Develop and maintain methods, operating sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Work closely with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products.
  • Use engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
  • Expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies to identify root cause issues and solutions that ensure operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing test procedures and production test scripts used to validate product performance and quality.
  • Translate product requirements into robust manufacturing test solutions by defining test sequences, pass/fail criteria, and production test methodologies.
  • Design, specify, source, validate, and sustain test fixtures, adapters, cabling, and tooling required to interface products with manufacturing test systems.
  • Collaborate with Central Test Engineering to integrate product-specific test requirements into standardized test platforms and ensure successful deployment to production. Maintain overall test platform knowledge to provide feedback, design change requests, and repair requests to Central Test Engineering.
  • Write, debug, and maintain automated test scripts and software routines used in production test environments.
  • Troubleshoot test software, hardware, fixture, and process-related issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify trends, improve first-pass yield, reduce test escapes, and increase equipment uptime and throughput.
  • Support new product introductions by developing and validating production-ready test processes and fixtures.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, and Operations to improve product testability and manufacturing performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cycle time, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor technicians and manufacturing personnel on test procedures, test equipment operation, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
