Manufacturing Technician (OVERNIGHT SHIFT)
About The Position
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for their facility in Chillicothe, Ohio. This role operates essential equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including pumps, agitators, shakers, and scales. The technician will be responsible for daily scale calibrations, maintaining housekeeping standards, and performing various duties such as washing equipment, loading tanks, filtering product, and labeling containers according to customer and DOT requirements. The position requires the ability to follow established process instructions, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Operators must also be comfortable working with hazardous materials while using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and possess good computer skills. This role is crucial for keeping the production process running smoothly and may involve assisting in the training of other employees.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 40 hr. work week (including occasional weekday and weekend overtime)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment
- Comfortable working with Hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits...Etc.
- Good Computer skills.

- Previous manufacturing experience
- Previous experience operating lift trucks/ material handling
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner: Pumps/ Agitators/ Shakers Scales Viscosity measurements
- Daily scale calibrations
- Maintain housekeeping
- Washing equipment (tanks, pumps, piping and loading equipment)
- Loading (charging) various size tanks from 5 to 500-gallon capacity
- Loading (charging) moving and lifting gallon stock, drums and totes
- Follow established process instructions and documentation (monitoring equipment)
- Filtration of product (loading / charging FSI filter and traps)
- Labeling of containers, following established process, customer and DOT requirements
- Housekeeping (participating in area cleanup)
- Auditing
- Perform selective maintenance tasks / equipment switch-outs to keep the process running
- Operate computer-controlled equipment
- Follow all site and area guidelines pertaining to all functions within the plant and assigned tasks.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that pertain to employees job functions
- Assist in the training of other employees
