Manufacturing Technician - Harnessing

Atoms•San Francisco, CA
•$32 - $45•Onsite

About The Position

Atoms is hiring an entry-level Manufacturing Harnessing Technician to build sensor pods and sub-assemblies for autonomous vehicles. The technician will work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to assemble brackets, sensors, harnesses, and enclosures; ensure fasteners are torqued to specification; and verify that pods are ready for vehicle installation. Senior technicians and leads will provide training on the build process, tools, and quality standards. The role is in a fast-moving production environment where processes and designs evolve, so precision and communication about issues are important. The role is based in Atoms’ San Francisco office. Office-based teams work onsite five days a week. The starting rate is $32.00–$45.00 per hour; actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and qualifications.

  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics, including simple to complex diagrams, and build accordingly.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow work instructions, diagrams, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience using torque wrenches or drivers, or working to torque specifications.
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools, and willingness to learn proper torque tool use.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with attention to detail on repetitive, precision assembly work.
  • Eagerness to learn and take feedback in a fast-changing production environment.

  • Build and stage sub-assemblies, including brackets, mounts, harness segments, and hardware kits, ahead of final pod and vehicle installation.
  • Torque fasteners to specification using calibrated torque tools, and mark or verify torque, such as with torque striping.
  • Route and secure pod wiring with proper connector seating, strain relief, and cable management.
  • Check finished pods and sub-assemblies for fit, fastener security, and connector quality before handoff to installation.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and flag gaps, unclear steps, missing or incorrect parts, and design issues to leads and engineering.
  • Log build issues in the issue tracker so engineering can address part and design problems.
  • Document completed builds, serial numbers, and checks as required.
