About The Position

This position is for the EB West Maintenance & Modernization Site in Bremerton, WA. The Maintenance and Modernization team has an opening for Manufacturing Technicians responsible for performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support delivered ships at the EB West site. The successful candidates must be experienced in naval submarine Maintenance and Modernization activity and be flexible as well as adaptable, working in a team environment. A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades. Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters and Inside / Outside Machinists will be preferred and considered first. Other Manufacturing Technicians such as Crib operators, Carpenters, and Sheetmetal workers may be considered at the discretion of the employer. Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and possess the math skills necessary for establishing or determining ships lines relative to positioning components for installation. Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply them as needed with the appropriate training. Travel to other shipyards in the continental United States is required. Must be willing to accept extended work assignments as the organization is a traveling team. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergency overtime may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to know, comply with and participate in site improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent
  • Not an entry-level position; requires skilled manufacturing technicians capable of performing functions with reasonable oversight.
  • 1+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industry OR Successfully completed welding school training
  • Ability to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents.
  • Ability to perform craft functions according to proper procedures and policies in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certification.
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Fall Arrest Protection certification.
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certification.
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain the EB Heavy Metals Program requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a practical exam for the position applied.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Welder, Electrician, Pipefitter, Shipfitter, or Inside / Outside Machinist.
  • Experience as a Crib operator, Carpenter, or Sheetmetal worker.
  • 2+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of SP/SSP’s, DIs and SIs.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in an industrial marine environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support delivered ships.
