About The Position

The Manufacturing Technician III will act as the first line of support for the production team, assembling and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies. This role involves interfacing with multiple departments such as Quality, Engineering, Production, and Sales to address challenges. The technician will recommend improvements to documentation, work with Manufacturing Engineers on testing new processes and data collection, and participate in continuous improvement programs. Responsibilities also include managing returned customer systems, collaborating with Applications Engineers, serving as a technical reference and trainer for the production team, and assisting the engineering team with new product introductions and testing. The role requires executing test plans, collecting data, and writing reports.

  • General computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot software-driven systems.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as work instructions, Bill of Materials, schematics, and drawings.
  • Ability to analyze small sets of data and report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Ability to define problem statements, initiate root cause analysis, and propose containment/corrective actions.
  • Ability to use standard hand tools and electronic test equipment.
  • Knowledge of ESD practices.
  • Ability to maintain a clean work area.
  • Ability to wear applicable PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Ability to work under a hood.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with optics and electro-optics.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first line of support for the production team.
  • Assemble and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies.
  • Interface with multiple departments including Quality, Engineering, Production, and Sales to tackle challenges.
  • Recommend changes in documentation to enhance manufacturability and quality, including instructions, checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineers on testing new processes and collecting data.
  • Participate as a key member of the continuous improvement program.
  • Manage return customer systems, performing diagnosis and recommending repair actions or upgrades.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineers to evaluate options for customers.
  • Serve as a technical reference for the production team and deliver training to small groups of Assemblers and Technicians.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on new product introduction, new tools qualification, and new parts testing.
  • Execute test plans, collect data, and write reports.
