About The Position

Caterpillar Remanufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Technician I to support Reman Drivetrain at the West Fargo, ND facility. This hourly position involves developing new products and processes from conception to launch, as well as supporting existing processes, products, and equipment. The role will assist in initiating CPS and Lean concepts, process gauging, contamination control, torque and leak-free assembly, quality systems and practices, process documentation, product specifications, PPAP, capital equipment, project development, material delivery, and safety. Caterpillar provides all necessary tools and equipment at no cost to the employee.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in quality, inspection or machining preferred
  • Proven record of good attendance
  • Must possess ability to deal with multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry up to 35 pounds
  • Visual and hearing abilities as appropriate for safe execution of job duties, functions and tasks
  • Physical exertion and effort to safely lift, push or pull components or parts

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year tech school degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Background in MRP/ERP software systems as well as MS Office preferred; preference given to candidates with SAP knowledge and product knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, SAP/GSI

Responsibilities

  • Use precision measuring devices to effectively inspect parts
  • Operate machinery such as hand tools and air tools
  • Backup for computerized inspection equipment such as FARO CMM and Faro Laser tracker to measure pivot shafts as required
  • Apply and correctly interpret reusability guidelines and determine disposition of materials
  • Assist in the development of reusability guidelines and work instructions
  • Perform incoming receiving inspection
  • Perform 1st article inspections on non-standardized parts
  • Able to operate pallet jacks and other moving equipment
  • Responsible for identifying issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary
  • Perform 5S Audits
  • Perform Safety Stop Audits observations as required
  • Participate in the CI/PID Process
  • Any duties or tasks that may be assigned to promote cross training or support for various areas of the shop
  • Follow the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) Standard Work Sheets
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Hourly Pay Range: $24.33 - $30.97
  • 2nd shift Work Hours: 4:15PM - 2:45AM
  • 2nd shift will receive an additional 7% night shift premium.
  • Monday - Thursday with occasional overtime on Fridays
