Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and communicate in English.
  • Frequent repetitions of squatting, bending, and twisting.
  • Frequent fine motor movement (opening of ampoules, operating a syringe, opening and closing of twist cap roller bottles, placing ampoules on cryogenic vial canes).
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Approximately 85% of the day is spent in a standing position.
  • Daily dressing and operating in clean room required garments.
  • Frequent repetitions of wrist and shoulder rotations.
  • Strict grooming and appearance standards must be adhered to, including no makeup, visible piercings, false nails, nail polish, or jewelry while on duty.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all laboratory processes aseptically under a Grade A Laminar Air Flow hood in a clean room laboratory.
  • Perform daily gowning with sterile hooded coveralls, goggles, face-mask, two pairs of gloves, and clean room boot coverings.
  • Understand and follow Marek’s Laboratory SOPs, Quality Assurance SOPs, Marek’s Laboratory Support SOPs, and other applicable SOPs.
  • Thoroughly document all procedures legibly and concurrently.
  • Perform and understand basic tissue and viral culture.
  • Assist in preparation of growth medium and cryoprotectant medium.
  • Work closely with Marek’s Laboratory Support Technicians, which may include dishware preparation outside of the clean room laboratory and assisting with placing filled ampoules on cryogenic vial canes.
  • Provide weekend and shift coverage as required for vaccine lot productions, which may include one weekend shift a month.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) & CFR Title 9: Animals and Animal Products.
