About The Position

The Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of optical solutions. This segment is divided into carrier network and enterprise network product groups, serving various communication needs. As a Manufacturing Technician, you will be a key technical resource, providing troubleshooting support for manufacturing processes and equipment. You will collaborate with production, maintenance, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues affecting throughput, quality, safety, and equipment performance. Your role will involve identifying root causes, supporting preventive maintenance, and recommending solutions for recurring problems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or 2-year technical degree in Mechatronics or a related field OR High school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of technical manufacturing experience, including verifiable electrical systems capability
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing: Mechanical equipment, Electrical controls, Pneumatic controls
  • Proficiency using test equipment for troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Familiarity with sensors, switches, motors, and actuators
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and machine specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-shift technical support for manufacturing operations
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues with urgency and precision to support production goals
  • Support resolution of throughput, performance, and safety-related issues impacting output
  • Identify chronic equipment and process problems and recommend robust long-term corrective actions
  • Monitor area performance, proactively identify issues, and drive them through to closure
  • Manage multiple technical issues simultaneously while applying established technical standards and troubleshooting methods
  • Support preventive maintenance and equipment upkeep initiatives
  • Provide technical expertise to maintenance personnel for repair, installation, testing, maintenance, and debugging of equipment
  • Complete detailed and accurate documentation for troubleshooting activities, repairs, and projects
  • Maintain systems and actions necessary to support department certification requirements, quality system audit programs, and ISO14000 compliance
  • Promote and reinforce a safe work environment, including adherence to housekeeping and safety standards
