About The Position

The Manufacturing Team Member VI is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and adjusting multi-axis CNC milling/grinding/lathe and other various types of semi-automated equipment depending on the assigned area. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting the machine when necessary, which involves diagnosing breakdowns, disassembling equipment, and replacing defective machine components. The role involves running production jobs per written or verbal work instructions to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity standards. Responsibilities include inspecting product quality, reading work orders and blueprints, performing machine adjustments, troubleshooting major machine issues, performing machine set-ups, and general machine maintenance. The role also requires accurate reporting of production counts, scrap, and labor hours, compliance with 6S standards, participation in lean manufacturing activities, and cross-training in different machines and work areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, and seven (7) years of related experience is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to perform visual quality inspections.
  • Ability to learn, problem-solve, and make decisions per work instructions and documents.
  • Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed by the company is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Klein employees may be eligible for consideration with five (5) years of Klein Tools tenure.
  • CNC certification or metalworking/tooling certification preferred.
  • Knowledge in operating CNC, milling, or grinding machines preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Klein provided crane certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust multi-axis CNC milling/grinding/lathe or other various types of semi-automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues, including diagnosing breakdowns, disassembling equipment, and replacing defective machine components or tooling.
  • Run production jobs per written or verbal work instructions to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity standards.
  • Inspect product for quality throughout production runs using various measuring tools.
  • Record inspection findings and write detailed downtime and other shift communications.
  • Read work orders and blueprints to identify appropriate specifications for machine setup and product quality.
  • Review work orders to ensure bill of materials are accurate and inventory transactions are performed correctly.
  • Perform offsets to the program and adjustments to machine feed, speed, and axis points.
  • Perform machine set-ups, including changing fixtures, inserts, tooling bars, and dies, and selecting and loading programs.
  • Perform general machine maintenance, such as cleaning, and checking/adding oil and coolant levels.
  • Report accurate count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours.
  • Comply with established 6S standards and participate in lean manufacturing activities.
  • Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
