About The Position

3M is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join the Electrical Markets Division at the New Ulm, MN facility. This role offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise in meaningful, high-impact ways. As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. The Manufacturing Systems Engineer will serve as a systems engineering expert for the New Ulm, MN plant, providing leadership, guidance, and support across a range of manufacturing-related systems. This role will become a key site resource for various systems such as: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Middleware applications, Control systems, Quality systems, Data collection and repository systems, and Other plant business data systems.

Requirements

  • Computer Science associate degree or higher from an accredited institution (completed prior to start)
  • Minimum 4 years of manufacturing experience in private, public, government, or military settings
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with manufacturing systems applications
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree or higher in, Computer Science, Control Systems, Software Development (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Experience in Manufacturing and Data Automation
  • Workflow Application integration
  • Power BI reporting
  • an understanding of machine controls
  • Database skills with SQL scripts and stored procedures
  • Self-starter, results driven behaviors with strong oral and written communications skills

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost
  • Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
  • Driving cost and productivity improvements through Continuous Improvement projects with a variety of toolsets, including standard work development, tier reviews and kaizens
  • Lead capital projects within the New Ulm facility
  • Prioritize projects based on business value
  • Provide support for manufacturing system applications site-wide
  • On-call as next level site support in critical situations
  • Responsibilities of this position include that corporate policies, procedures and security standards are complied with while performing assigned duties.
